HOUSTON, Texas – Meg Winchester,
former national sales manager for the San Diego Convention
Center, has been named senior national sales manager
at the George R. Brown Convention Center (GRBCC). Her
appointment is effective Monday, March 21.
Winchester, a native of Galveston, headed San Diego’s
highly successful national sales effort from 1998 to
2003. She returned to Texas in 2004 to work as national
key accounts sales manager for the Greater Houston Convention
and Visitors Bureau.
In addition, the GRBCC has named Lori Ehnes to the
position of sales manager. Ehnes was North American
sales manager for the Banff Lake Louise Tourism Bureau
in Alberta, Canada. Her appointment also becomes effective
Monday.
“We are thrilled to bring aboard talented sales
people such as Meg and Laurie,” GRBCC director
Dawn Ullrich said. “Meg has incredible contacts
throughout the country and Laurie has an extensive base
in Canada and North America. They are going to be incredible
assets to us.
“We’re serious about becoming a major player
in the convention industry and we’re gearing up
to toe-to-toe with our competition. We have our infrastructure
in place and we’re ready to start selling the
George R. Brown in a more aggressive manner.”
Prior to her stint in San Diego, Winchester held numerous
positions in the catering industry from 1983-1998. She
is a graduate of Southwest Texas State University in
San Marcos.
Ehnes previously worked 11 years for Economic Development
Edmonton and 10 years for the Edmonton Convention and
Tourism Authority.
At 1.85 million gross square feet, the GRBCC ranks
among the largest convention centers in America. The
building features 1.2 million square feet of exhibition,
meeting and registration space, seven exhibit halls
