HOUSTON, Texas – After serving as a humanitarian
relief center for four weeks, the George R. Brown Convention
Center (GRBCC) is ready to get back to its core business
this weekend.
Trinity Motivational, a business meeting, begins move-in
operations Friday before convening Saturday and Sunday.
In addition, the Invensys Process Systems Customer Conference
moves in this weekend and meets Monday through next
Thursday.
These are the first meetings to be held in the GRBCC
after the building was converted into a base of operations
to assist victims of Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane
Rita.
“We are delighted to welcome Trinity Motivational
and Invensys to the George R. Brown,” said Dawn
Ullrich, director of the convention center. “Throughout
our emergency shelter operations our sales team continued
to book events, conduct site visits and work with clients
as we always have. We appreciate the flexibility and
understanding our clients have demonstrated as we worked
through various humanitarian issues.
“It is also important for our clients to know
that the George R. Brown suffered no storm damage and
is in the same condition as it was before we began shelter
operations,” Ullrich added. “The building
is in tip-top shape.”
Ullrich also reiterated that Houston is fully functional
once again, as freeways have cleared, airports are open
and gasoline supplies have been restored after Hurricane
Rita.
