The staff at the George R. Brown Convention
Center provided helping hands during the collaborative
effort of Major League Baseball and the Houston
chapter of Habitat for Humanity to build eight
houses during the three World Series dates in
Houston. The house frames, which were constructed
on the green space across from the convention
center and then shipped out, were part of an
effort to relocate Gulf Coast families displaced
by Hurricane Katrina. George R. Brown employees
and contractors from Aramark, AVW Telav, Initial
Security and TD Industries who helped out were,
kneeling, Todd Etheridge and Lee Ward; standing,
Jason Smith (on ladder), Ray Raibourn, Dave
Osterhout, Shinita Carter, David Sloma and Gerad
Moers; rear, Pamela Walko and Meg Winchester.
